Qualification Summary
(1) Position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment NTE 4 years by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of five years, and may be made permanent without further competition. (2) Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 4 years if the candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Term appointments may be extended up to a maximum of six years. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience; Have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service which includes working within a hospital emergency management section or a Hospital Incident Command (HICS) creating and implementing emergency response plans, emergency preparation, utilizing command systems and providing disaster assistance to decrease the effect of disasters and reduce vulnerability to hazards. OR Have successfully completed a Ph.D. degree or equivalent graduate degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Emergency Management. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification). OR Have the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have at least two years of graduate education as described in B but less than the required three years. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Oral Communication Planning and Evaluating Teaching Others Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-9).
