The Laal Singh Chadha (2022) Controversy
Directed by Advait Chandan and written by Atul Kulkarni, the movie, Laal Singh Chadha (2022), starred Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor and others. Adapted from Forest Gump (1994), the issue with the Bollywood version was Aamir’s 2015 year’s comments about “growing intolerance” in India. Aamir Khan’s 2017 meeting with Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Turkish President, fueled the controversy further; because of the head of state’s criticism about Muslim deaths in Delhi Riots.
The Hindu nationalists added to this unrest by posting twitter hashtags, against the movie and the actor. They had already boycotted Aamir’s movie PK (2014), as well, previously. Aamir said that he was “heartbroken” due to the attitude of these people about him and his movies and encouraged the viewers to watch the movie. People were divided in their opinions regarding the movie’s poor performance at the box office. Some of their thoughts were the trend of boycotting Aamir Khan’s movies, unsatisfactory content and wrong time of release.
Ranveer Singh’s Nude Photoshoot
Ranveer Singh’s Nude Photoshoot was another viral controversy that became the talk of the town in 2022. These nude pictures of Ranveer Singh became viral and the actor became the target of trolls and memes, which made fun of him all through the year. Ranveer Singh went on to deny any such photoshoot and said that the pictures were morphed. In my opinion, a person in the public limelight is much more responsible than the common people and should behave accordingly. Their attitude of first sensationalizing their bodies and then denying everything worsens the damage that has already been done. Celebrities are miffed when youth become obsessed with them and crush on them. At the same time, these very celebrities try to attract these youth through cheap publicity stunts like these.
