Qualification Summary
To be eligible, an applicant must: -Be at least 16 years of age or older for a non-arduous or non-hazardous duty position. -Be a student who has been accepted for enrollment or is currently enrolled at least half-time in a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) seeking program in an accredited high school, technical or vocational school, 2-year or 4-year college or university, graduate or professional school. -Possess a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 or higher. In order to assess you meet a qualified status for this position and to refer you to the hiring manager, the agency must be able to determine that you meet the qualifications based on completed education, specialized experience, and/or both – please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade (GS-4) of the position to be filled. Specialized Experience: For the GS-5 grade level, you may qualify based on (1) completion of four (4) years above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university, (2) 1 year of creditable specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 grade level, and/or (3) combination of education and experience. Examples of specialized experience include but are not limited to performing clerical duties such as establishing and maintaining office files and records; receiving and referring telephone callers and visitors to the appropriate staff member; and using a computer to perform administrative duties such as typing, scanning documents, and data entry. You must meet all eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Physical Demands: The work is typically sedentary. Some work may require periods of walking, standing, bending, or driving a motor vehicle. The trainee may frequently lift relatively light boxes, materials, and supplies and/or carry file folders, copied materials, books, and other similar materials. Work Environment: Work is typically located in an adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated office environment. The work environment may involve everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, mail distribution centers, meeting and training rooms, libraries, or motor vehicles.
