Qualification Summary
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Podiatrist Basic Requirements Degree as a doctor of podiatric medicine, or its equivalent, from a school of podiatric medicine approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Approved schools are United States schools of podiatric medicine approved by the Council on Podiatry Education of the American Podiatry Association in the year in which the degree was granted. ~AND~ Completed, or currently completing, residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. VA Podiatrists involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status. Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the accrediting bodies for graduate medical education, the Council on Podiatric Medical Education, in the list published for the year the residency was completed, or (2) Other residencies and training experiences, or their equivalents, which the local Professional Standards Board determines to have provided an applicant with appropriate professional training. ~AND~ Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice Podiatry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia. Preferred Experience: Administrative experience for 3 to 5 years at a Section Chief or higher level in a tertiary, 1a facility Experience with hospital patient flow by managing clinic access, grid management and consult management Experience in using Performance Improvement strategies Experience with interprofessional and interdisciplinary team approaches Experience in change management Chief of Staff. A chief of staff must serve on a full-time basis and must be a Doctor of Medicine or podiatric medicine. The chief of staff develops and maintains currently accepted management practices throughout the clinical services. The chief of staff develops and presents budgetary requirements of the clinical services and assists in the formulation of the annual budget program. The chief of staff is fully responsible to the medical center director for programs of patient care and for the educational and research activities of clinical services. To carry out these responsibilities, the chief of staff:(1) Formulates and recommends plans for a comprehensive program of medical care;(2) Develops the requirements of staff, facilities, equipment, and supplies needed to carry forward such an integrated program, utilizing necessary reviews and controls; and(3) Appraises the effectiveness of the various medical programs in meeting the needs of patient care. Physical Requirements: Moderate lifting (15-44 pounds), light lifting (under 15 pounds), moderate carrying (15-44 pounds), light carrying (under 15 pounds), pushing 4 hours, reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, both hands required, walking 2 hours, standing 8 hours, near vision correctable at 13″ to 16″ to Jaeger 1 to 4, far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other, hearing (aid permitted), mental and emotional stability.
