Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: GS-07: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to a GS-05, as a professional engineer applying basic engineering concepts to assist in the design and layout of mechanical equipment and systems. GS-09: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to a GS-07, as a professional engineer applying engineering principles to design, operate, or maintain Naval shipboard weapon systems. GS-11: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to a GS-09, as a professional engineer reviewing plans for a wide variety of shipboard equipment related to mechanical engineering to identify engineering design, logistical, or maintenance support issues. GS-12: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to a GS-11, as a professional engineer evaluating plans for a wide variety of shipboard equipment related to mechanical engineering to identify engineering design, logistical, or maintenance support issues. Education may be substituted for the specialized experience at GS-07 through GS-11 levels only. Transcripts must reflect the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies to perform the duties of the position. Substitution of education is as follows: GS-07: 1 year of graduate-level education or Superior Academic Achievement. GS-09: 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master’s degree or master’s or equivalent graduate degree. GS-11: 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
