Qualification Summary
For the GS-05 Grade Level: Applicants must have 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-04, in the Federal Service. This experience may have been gained either in the Federal or private sectors. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as performing administrative duties to support an office; qualified applicant must possess at least three of the following: Experience reviewing documents for conformance with policy, format, grammatical accuracy; Experience maintaining files and/or filing systems; Experience receiving and routing correspondence; Experience in preparing correspondence and reports from rough drafts into proper format. OR Possess 4 full years of college education leading to a Bachelor’s degree which provides me with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of this position as described above. OR A combination of education and specialized experience listed above and the total percentage must equal at least 100%. For the GS-06 Grade Level: Applicants must have 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-05, in the Federal Service. This experience may have been gained either in the Federal or private sectors. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as performing administrative duties to support an office; qualified applicant must possess at least four of the following: Experience reviewing documents for conformance with policy, format, grammatical accuracy; Experience working with office automation software in order to retrieve, manipulate or modify data from different sources to generate reports, documentation or information used by others; Experience maintaining files and/or filing systems; Experience operating standard office equipment such as printers, photocopiers, facsimile machines, multi-line office telephone systems; and, Experience in preparing correspondence and reports from rough drafts into proper format. There is no substitution of education for the GS-06 grade level. In addition to the above, required proficiency for Office Automation (OA): You must have a typing proficiency of 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. You must have a certificate of proficiency from an organization authorized to issue such certificates or self-certify your proficiency.
