Salil Chowdhury Compositions of the early 1970s

Today’s first post is Salil Chowdhury Compositions of the early 1970s. This is a continuation of my post – Music Composer Salil Chowdhury’s Death Anniversary. In the current post; I would like to address the person who commented on my previous post – Gautam Choudhury. He said that I have not researched my topic and my article was cheap and showed my arrogance and ignorance. I have already apologized for the cheapness that my article showed, according to the commenter’s opinion, in a reply to his comment.

Gautam, today, I would like to talk about my ‘arrogance’ and ‘ignorance’. Talking about arrogance, I have always considered myself very insignificant compared to the great personalities like Salilda. I don’t know if that can be considered arrogance. It is for you, Gautam, to decide.

Coming to the ignorance part, I am only human. Even Goddess Saraswati said, “There is so much knowledge in this cosmos. All I know fills only my one fist.” Like I said in the reply to your comment, I don’t put all the information in one article. There are others, who take information from other websites or sources or even copy them. I don’t like that. But sometimes it has to be done since it is a necessary evil. I try to avoid it if I can help it because I try to bring to my article some uniqueness, which I can manage in my insignificant way. In that process I try to incorporate relevant personal memories, like in case of Dev Anand Sahab, which I have often written about.

This is about people I have met like Dev Sahab. But what about people I haven’t met like Salilda? Unlucky me! I regret having been born on the wrong side of the Golden Era of Bollywood. Then, you will ask me why I write about them. Writing is my passion and writing about music, which I love, is something I do enthusiastically. Every personality like Salilda gives me an opportunity to pen my thoughts. If my writings hurt someone’s feelings, particularly Gautam’s, I apologize for the same, once again since that’s not my intention.

I have selected some of my favorite songs from Bollywood movies released in the early 1970s that had Salil Chowdhury’s music, for this post. I hope you like them.

Salil Chowdhury Compositions of the early 1970s

These may be just 5 songs from Salilda’s early 1970s compositions. But these are not in any way my only favorites. There are others, too, which I may not have mentioned, in this article. God-willing, I will definitely mention others in some other article.

Maine tere liye hi saat rangke sapne chune… Anand (1970)

Koi hota jisko apna… Mere Apne (1971)

Nis din nis din mera jhulmi Sajan… Annadata (1972)

Rajnigandha phool tumhare… Rajnigandha (1974)

Na jaane kyon hota hai yeh zindagike sath… Chhoti Si Baat (1975)
