Qualification Summary
Basic Requirements:Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.Evaluation of Education:The primary requirement of operations research work is competence in the rigorous methods of scientific inquiry and analysis rather than in the subject matter of the problem. Therefore, applicants should have sufficient knowledge of applied mathematics to understand and use the fundamental concepts and techniques of operations research methods of analysis. In addition, some positions may require knowledge of a specific subject area.Courses acceptable for qualifying for operations research positions may have been taken in departments other than Operations Research, e.g., Engineering (usually Industrial Engineering), Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Management ScienceADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AT THE GS-12 LEVEL: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to a GS-11 in the federal service. Specialized experience includes:Apply analytical processes to the planning, design, and implementation of new and improved C-UAS systems to meet specific use cases. Evaluate the capabilities of current systems and/or new technologies in operational environments. Participate in Cooperative Research and Development Agreements with industry and Inter Agency Agreements with other government entities. Assist with resource management control including identification of needed resources, procurement of equipment or services necessary for project execution, and monitoring resource allocation over the course of projects. Experience assisting with development of contracts for commercial C-UAS equipment and/or services to include preparing requests for information, requests for proposals, statements of work, and independent government cost estimates.
Analyzing test and evaluation data, creating data visualization displays, and drafting and delivering summary reports and briefs to inform stakeholders and strategic decision makers.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: AT THE GS-13 LEVEL: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to a GS-12 in the federal service. Specialized experience includes: Apply analytical processes to the planning, design, and implementation of new and improved C-UAS systems to meet specific use cases. Evaluate the capabilities of current systems and/or new technologies in operational environments to specific missions, noting their advancements and shortfalls. Experience drafting and executing Cooperative Research and Development Agreements with industry and Inter Agency Agreements with other government entities. Perform resource management control including identification of needed resources, procurement of equipment or services necessary for project execution, and monitoring resource allocation over the course of projects. Experience developing contracts for commercial C-UAS equipment and/or services to include preparing requests for information, requests for proposals, statements of work, and independent government cost estimates.
