Qualification Summary
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
In order to qualify for this position, your application must demonstrate that you meet at least one of the following Basic Requirements: Your resume and/or transcripts must reflect that you have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in 42 CFR Part 75, and is accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals, or the American Osteopathic Association and are certified as a radiographer in your field as evidenced by your active State or national license which must be good standing. OR Your resume and/or additional documentation must reflect that you have been continuously employed by the Federal Government in a Radiologic position prior to January 13, 1986 with evidence of a current or fully satisfactory performance or certification of such from a licensed practitioner such as a doctor of medicine, osteopathy, dentistry, podiatry, or chiropractic who prescribes radiologic procedures to others. OR Your resume and/or transcripts must reflect that you have been employed by the Federal Government in a Radiologic position after January 13, 1986 and have (a) received training from an institution in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not accredit training in that particular field at the time of graduation, or (b) practiced in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not license that particular field or did not allow special eligibility to take a licensure examination for those who did not graduate from an accredited educational program, and can provide evidence of your training, experience, and competence. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must clearly demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-09:
Your resume must demonstrate that you possess at least one (1) year of full-time specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-08 grade level that equipped you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples include: Under supervision, performing difficult Digital Radiological, Bone Density, Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examinations; recognizing and correcting errors of mechanical, technical, or position to determine the purpose of repeating an image or series with minimal supervision. OR Your resume and/or transcripts must demonstrate that you have completed two full years (36 semester hours) of graduate level education directly related to the work of the position. OR Your resume and/or transcripts must demonstrate that you have completed a master’s or equivalent graduate degree directly related to the work of the position. OR Your resume and/or transcripts must demonstrate that you have a combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-09 grade level. GS-10:
Your resume must demonstrate that you possess at least one (1) year of full-time specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level that equipped you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples include: Independently performing Digital Radiological, Bone Density, Computed Tomography, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examinations, with a minimum of one (1) year experience in the field of MRI; conferring with radiologists to establish the requirements of nonstandard examinations and determining technical factors; notifying the radiologist or physician of significant scans requiring immediate attention and visualization while patient is undergoing examination, establishing imaging parameters best suited for demonstrating specific pathology for the more difficult examinations; advising radiologist or physician of results of examination and providing a preliminary diagnostic evaluation; independently screening patients, explaining methods and safety precautions of procedures; independently starting IV’s, positioning patients, and producing necessary images for the requested examination; independently making appropriate decisions on how to best accommodate the needs of the patient, regardless of physical or mental limitations. You must have an active certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
