Qualification Summary
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 06/27/2022. The operator receives instructions from the supervisor or dispatcher as to the type of vehicle to be operated, destination, purpose, deadline, and work to be done. Work is evaluated for timeliness, safe delivery of cargo or passengers, and compliance with all traffic rules and safety practices. Your background must demonstrate experience in safely operating and maintaining vehicles, customer service, and patient transportation, keeping accurate records, and using safety equipment. Please ensure your resume reflects your experience and duties performed. NOTE: POSSESSION OF A VALID CLASS C (or higher) STATE COMMERCIAL DRIVER’S LICENSE, WITH A PASSENGER ENDORSEMENT, IS REQUIRED. A COPY MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH YOUR APPLICATION. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Moderate lifting (15-44 pounds), Use of fingers, Both hands required, Both legs required, Operation of truck or motor vehicle, Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other, Both eyes required, Depth perception, Ability to distinguish basic colors, Hearing (aid permitted).PHYSICAL EFFORT: You will be required to lift moderate to heavy items on a daily basis, such as wheelchair patients, machinery, mail bags, and medical center supplies. Frequent bending and lifting on a daily basis is required on wheelchair trips. Sitting and driving in a car, van or truck for long periods of time (up to 8 hours) or long distances is also required. WORKING CONDITIONS: Drives outside in all kinds of weather conditions in all types of traffic at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange systems. Outside work may involve extreme cold or hot working conditions as well as rain, snow, and ice. There will be constant noise, dust, fumes, smoke, and gases present and work may entail slippery or uneven walking surfaces, as well as moving objects or other vehicles. Exposed to dirt and fumes, and the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or from falling objects when loading and unloading the vehicle.
