Qualification Summary
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The incumbent shall make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, aerial lifts, platforms, and other hard to reach places. Required to perform the work while standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, or working with hands overhead. There is work requiring lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds. In addition, it is sometimes necessary to work in cramped quarters, in small openings, on stepladders, in areas with dust, dirt, extreme heat or cold and in unventilated areas. Subject to the hazards of working near energized steam lines and electrical lines as well as hazards when working with power and hand tools. Must be alert and must exert concentration in maintaining and repairing the various pieces of equipment and appliances. Required to work in areas that are poorly lighted. Required to work both inside and outside in all types of hot/cold weather. Works in areas where clothes and skin can be soiled by grease, dust and steam. Required to work in areas that are noisy, such as pump rooms, mechanical rooms, etc., including areas that are exposed to gases, fumes, smoke and dust. Work in all areas of the Medical Center, including contagious disease, and/or contaminated areas. will be provided and required to wear universal protection items such as; caps, gowns, masks, full face, or any safety equipment. Will be required to operate and work from staging, use various types of man lifts, operate forklifts, and other equipment that may be typically found on worksites, training will be provided. Travel is required and incumbent may be required to work beyond normal duty hours.
