Today is Filmmaker Nitin Bose Death Anniversary. Let’s talk about Nitin Bose in the day’s post. Born on April 26, 1897 in Calcutta (Kolkata now); he expired on April 14, 1986, in the same city. This Bengali-Hindi movie director, screenwriter-cum-cinematographer was initially associated with New Theaters in the 1930s and early 1940s and joined Bombay Talkies and Filmistan later, post shifting to Bombay (Mumbai now). He gave Indian cinema a first when his movies, first Bengali – Bhagya Chakra (1935) – and then its Hindi remake – Dhoop Chhaon (1935) – became these movies used playback singing for the first time. Ganga-Jamuna (1961) is his most well-known movie.
