Anand (Rajesh Khanna) is afflicted by Lymphocarcoma of the intestine. Tongue-twister, eh? In simple words, he is a cancer patient. He has been admitted in Dr. Prakash Kulkarni’s (Ramesh Deo) hospital. But he runs away from there and lands in Dr. Bhaskar Banerjee’s (Amitabh Bachchan) home, the day the 2 meet. Prakash and his wife, Suman Kulkarni (Seema Deo), visit Bhaskar’s home and see Anand there.
Suman and Prakash invite Bhaskar and Anand to their wedding anniversary. When the invitees arrive, Suman immediately strikes a chord with Anand and calls him an elder brother. Anand is sad that he is not in a position to bless her since he was himself a guest in this world for a few days. Back at Bhaskar’s home, he is seen singing this song.

Video – Kahin door jab din dhal jaaye
Cinematography is by Jaywant Pathare.
The video opens with Rajesh Khanna feeling sad. The next shot shows the setting sun and the music begins as the clinging of the bells of bullocks pulling a cart is heard. Rajesh Khanna is looking out sadly and then begins to sing this song.
He has a book in his hand and walks around the garden in front of the verandah. The scenic beauty of the place with the sea waves lashing on the coast is eye-catching. He goes back to the verandah and looks into the book.
There’s a dried flower lying on the page, he’s reading from. He picks it up and sings that sometimes some relationships are not made for each other and at other times relationships are eternal. It is clear that he has a secret.
Amitabh Bachchan enters the house and realizes that Rajesh Khanna is at the upper floor and singing. He climbs the stairs toward the upper floor and on reaching the upper room, he switches on the light.
Rajesh Khanna continues to sing that he has several secrets about how he lost his dreams. Then, he sits on a chair. But Amitabh Bachchan is still standing. The song peters out and the video also ends as he approaches Rajesh Khanna.
