Qualification Summary
Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. To qualify at the GS-09 grade level, you must have:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes independently utilizing electronic theories and converting theoretical ideas into practical applications; specialized experience of working with the theoretical and practical knowledge of the characteristics, function, operation, and capabilities of a variety of types of electronic equipment; use of schematic diagrams, a variety of test equipment, and the application of appropriate electronic formulas involved in such duties as testing, troubleshooting, modifying, designing, calibrating, installing, maintaining, repairing, constructing, developing, and instructing on electronic equipment; skills of working with programmable logic controllers (PLC), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), fire alarm systems, electronic intrusion detection system, access control system, CCTV systems and components; Using design characteristics, operation, and functions of the above systems to align, tune, and adjust circuits and relays as required; working extensively with IP addresses on CCTV systems, firewalls, manage switches and network video recorders. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08);
OR
Education: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education; or a master’s degree or equivalent leading to such a degree with a major study in a subject related to the position to be filled such as Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Electronics/Electrical Technology, or Electronics/Electrical Technician. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcript(s)).
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate level education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for this position. Determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determine your education as a percentage of the education required for the grade the grade level; then add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal 100 percent to qualify for this position. (To compute the percentage, divide you total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify).
To qualify at the GS-08 grade level, you must have:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing electronic theories and the ability to apply the theories with the assistance of higher graded technicians; specialized experience of working the theoretical and practical knowledge of the characteristics, function, operation, and capabilities of a variety of types of electronic equipment; use of schematic diagrams, a variety of test equipment, and the application of appropriate electronic formulas involved in such duties as testing, troubleshooting, modifying, designing, calibrating, installing, maintaining, repairing, constructing, developing, and instructing on electronic equipment; skills of working with programmable logic controllers (PLC), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), fire alarm systems, electronic intrusion detection system, access control system, CCTV systems and components; Using design characteristics, operation, and functions of the above systems to adjust circuits and relays as required; working moderately with IP addresses on CCTV systems, firewalls, manage switches and network video recorders. Work is performed with little or no guidance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Electronics/Electrical Technology, or Electronics/Electrical Technician.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages. To qualify at the GS-07 grade level, you must have:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing electronic theories and the ability to apply the theories with guidance from higher graded technicians and or supervisors; specialized experience of working the theoretical and practical knowledge of the characteristics, function, operation, and capabilities of a variety of types of electronic equipment; use of schematic diagrams, a variety of test equipment, and the application of appropriate electronic formulas involved in such duties as testing, troubleshooting, modifying, designing, calibrating, installing, maintaining, repairing, constructing, developing, and instructing on electronic equipment; skills of working with programmable logic controllers (PLC), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), fire alarm systems, electronic intrusion detection system, access control system, CCTV systems and components; Using design characteristics, operation, and functions of the above systems to adjust circuits and relays as required; working substantially with IP addresses on CCTV systems, firewalls, manage switches and network video recorders. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
OR
Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Electronics/Electrical Technology, or Electronics/Electrical Technician.
OR
