Qualification Summary
Applicants must meet the qualification requirements contained in the OPM Standards. For this position, they are listed below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: GS-05: One (1) year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least GS-4 grade level AND/OR 4-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor’s degree with courses related to the occupation. Specialized experience include: Applies computer programs to enter patrons, circulate and process library materials, search databases, market library services, and search databases; willing to manage and organize information by learning to apply organizational structures to books and other library materials, incoming mail, and procedures of the circulation desk; while applying quality customer service skills with understanding and courtesy to a diverse population of faculty, staff, and public. GS-06: One (1) year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least GS-5 grade level. Specialized experience include: Applies computer programs to enter patrons, circulate and process library materials, search databases, market library services, and search databases; willing to manage and organize information by learning to apply organizational structures to books and other library materials, incoming mail, and procedures of the circulation desk; while applying quality customer service skills with understanding and courtesy to a diverse population of faculty, staff, and public. GS-07: One (1) year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least GS-6 grade level. Specialized experience include: Ensures efficient and quality circulation services by evaluating lower-level library technicians and student workers; maintains purchasing for library contracts; increases cataloging skills, and willing to learn to create basic archival metadata to assist university archivist. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year (52 weeks) of service at the next lower grade level.
