You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized experience for the GS-09: Specialized experience is one year of experience at the GS-7 level or equivalent in other public or private sectors, that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience experience performing IT Information Security work to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, applications, networks, and/or data. Examples of such experience could include:
-Carrying out activities leading to security certification or accreditation; OR
-Conducting integrated analysis of multiple audit logs (e.g., firewall, Web server); OR
-Identifying violations and recommending corrective actions; OR
-Providing input in drafting information systems security documentation (e.g., systems security plans, risk assessments, disaster recovery plans, business continuity plans, and/or user security guides). OR
-Writing or reviewing software code to remediate vulnerabilities or security risks.
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Master’s or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.1. Attention to Detail – Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.2. Customer Service – Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.3. Oral Communication – Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.4. Problem Solving – Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
