Movie – Darr (1993)
The song, Angse ang lagana, appears in the romantic psychological thriller Darr: A Violent Love Story (Fear), released in 1993. The movie was produced and directed by Yash Chopra under the banner of Yash-Raj Films. The movie stars Sunny Deol, Juhi Chawla and Shah Rukh Khan in the lead.
Kiran (Juhi Chawla) is a college student in Shimla and is on her way home to celebrate Holi. She hears a boy crooning to her across the college campus. She thinks that it is her commando boyfriend Sunil (Sunny Deol), who has come to meet her and accompany her home. However, it is not Sunil but Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan), who a classmate with a crush on her.
Kiran is offended because she thinks Sunil had not met her though he had been to her college. Back home, Sunil drops on her from her wardrobe, frightening her. After her petty fights are over, he reveals that he never came to Shimla. While they are planning marriage, Rahul is trying to get close to Kiran.
Initially, Sunil and Kiran’s elder brother, Vijay (Anupam Kher) decide to handle the issue on their own. But when Rahul begins to stalk her, they take the assistance of the police. Rahul then challenges them that he would be meeting her the next day, which is Holi day, and they would not be able to stop it. He makes that call right from within their house and gets away scot-free. Kiran and Vijay’s wife, Poonam (Tanvi Azmi) are worried. The men decide to face the situation with the help of plainclothesmen. They sing this song during Holi celebrations, the next day.

The lyrics of the song, Angse ang lagana, were penned by Anand Bakshi and set to tune by Shiv-Hari.
The song goes, “Hug me while you douse the colors on me.”

The video opens with Anupam Kher playing the dafli and beginning the song. Juhi Chawla and Tanvi Azmi join a few girls on the steps in front of their house. Sunny Deol is discussing something seriously with some men and he turns toward Anupam Kher.
Anupam Kher approaches and pulls Tanvi Azmi into his arms. They begin to dance with the other girls, who were sitting with Juhi Chawla and Tanvi Azmi before. Tanvi Azmi begins to sing, too.
They play with Holi colors. Sunny Deol and Juhi Chawla also join in the celebrations. Shah Rukh Khan enters with some other men, playing the dholak. His face is covered with colors and unrecognizable.
He’s unable to tolerate Sunny Deol and Juhi Chawla dancing together. Juhi Chawla performs some Kathak steps. Soon, the song rises to a crescendo and ends abruptly. Shah Rukh Khan is completely piqued. The video also ends abruptly as he ends the music with a bang.
Sudesh Bhosle, Alka Yagnik, Vinod Rathod and Devki Pandit have sung this song for Anupam Kher, Tanvi Azmi, Sunny Deol and Juhi Chawla. Shah Rukh Khan and other actors are also seen in the video.
This song has been influenced by the Hindu culture of celebrating the festival of Holi. The song and the artists are good. The video is watchable for the same.
