Qualification Summary
To qualify for the position of Legal Assistant (Bankruptcy/OA), (GS-0986-7), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to the series and grade you are applying to. To qualify for the GS-07 position, you must meet one of the following minimum qualification requirements: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service or comparable pay band system related to the work of this position: 1) Providing a variety of direct legal support assistance services to supported staff members with respect to the full spectrum of bankruptcy cases; 2) Preparing and/or processing the full spectrum of technical legal documents associated with Chapters 7, 11, and 13 cases; AND 3) Verifying citations and statutory references contained in legal documents. OR Have a Bachelor’s Degree OR Superior Academic Achievement OR Have a combination of graduate education and experience, as described above that meets 100% of the requirements. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may qualify for this position as long as the computed requirements is least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 36. Add the two percentages. Selective Placement Factor: Selective Placement Factors (SPF) are special qualification requirements, in addition to the minimum requirements, that are essential in successfully performing the duties of this job. If SPF experience is not documented in your resume, you will not receive further consideration under this announcement. In addition to the specialized experience requirement listed above, this position has a selective placement factor(s): Applicant must have at least one year experience (at any grade level) providing bankruptcy law litigation support. Such experience must demonstrate knowledge of bankruptcy regulations and procedures. Your bankruptcy experience could have been complemented by experience with insolvency and/or forensic auditing. NOTE: While you may have experience in insolvency and/or forensic accounting which would complement your bankruptcy experience, NEITHER this experience or your education can be substituted for the REQUIRED 12 months bankruptcy experience. Applicants who do not meet the selective placement factor are ineligible for further consideration. You MUST meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/14/2021.
