Qualification Summary
MinimumEducation Requirement:Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
ANDSpecialized Experience:For the GS-12, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: Experience developing and maintaining complex independent lifecycle cost estimates using appropriate tools and methodologies; Experience using automated commercial tools for cost modeling, quantitative risk and uncertainty analysis, decision analysis, and workforce optimization; Experience communicating orally and in writing to convey complex study plans, findings, constraints, requirements; Experience applying professional cost analysis training, improving skills of others though interactions with internal and external agency cost and program analysts; Experience developing comparative studies to assist executive stakeholders in selecting approaches to meet capability needs.
Education:Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
Specialized Experience:For the GS-13, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: Experience developing and maintaining complex independent lifecycle cost estimates using appropriate tools and methodologies; Experience applying mathematical and statistical applications, operations research techniques, cost analysis, estimation and assessment concepts, and economic analysis concepts and procedures; Experience using automated commercial tools for cost modeling, quantitative risk and uncertainty analysis, decision analysis, and workforce optimization; Experience communicating orally and in writing to convey complex study plans, findings, constraints, requirements and their effect on the program and/or organization; Experience conducting data collection and statistical analysis of program performance data using new or improved methods; Experience providing technical expertise in evaluating other cost analysis projects and models.
Education:Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
