You must meet the “Education Requirements” and the “Specialized Experience” to qualify for this position as described below. GS-15: You MUST possess one year of specialized experience with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and are typically in or directly related to the position being filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to the GS-14 in the Federal service, or comparable pay band system. Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Specialized Experience is defined as: (1) Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations requirements (Part 23, 25, 33 and 43), turbine engine maintenance experience (121 Airline operating environment); (2) Thorough understanding of aircraft systems, components, structures and powerplants; (3) Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical and senior decision-makers; (4) Ability to interpret engineering schematics, engine installation instructions, and other technical documentation related to propulsion and mechanical systems, and to use these skills to communicate new system integration concepts; and (5) Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective collaborative working relationships in multi-agency investigations.
