Qualification Summary
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience: For the GS-05: Applicants who meet the individual occupational requirements are fully qualified for this level. You must have:
A. Degree: auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting. OR
B. Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant’s background must also include one of the following:
1.A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or
2.Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours. For the GS-05: You may be advanced to the GS-05 position if you have held a position no lower than GS-03 in the preceding year under your latest non-temporary competitive appointment OR have held a position at GS-05 or higher under a non-temporary appointment at any time in the past. For the GS-07: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience participating in audits, and documenting and presenting audit findings and recommendations, both orally and in writing. OR
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 1 year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement.
OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-07, you must have been at the GS-05 level for 52 weeks. For the GS-09: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Assisting senior auditors in conducting segments of audits, such as researching and interpreting applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, policies and procedures, and reporting results. OR
2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master’s degree.
OR
A master’s or equivalent graduate degree.
OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-09, you must have been at the GS-07 level for 52 weeks.
