Qualification Summary
Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week, on your resume. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement: BASIC REQUIREMENTS: A Bachelor’s or higher degree in accounting from an accredited college or university that included at least 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) in accounting or 24 semester hours in accounting and an additional 6 semester hours in related subjects such as business law, economics, statistical/quantitative methods, computerized accounting or financial systems, financial management or finance.
OR
A combination of experience and education at an accredited college or university equivalent to a four year degree that included courses equivalent to a major in accounting, i.e. at least 30 semester hours in accounting or 24 semester hours in accounting and 6 semester hours in related subjects as described above.
OR
A Certificate as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) obtained through written examination in a State, territory or the District of Columbia.
OR
Are currently serving as an Internal Revenue Agent GS-0512 and have been in this position for at least one year or was previously an Internal Revenue Agent GS-0512 and held the position for at least one year. In addition to the above qualifications, you must possess the following professional accounting knowledges: Principles of Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Cost Accounting, Advanced Accounting, and Auditing. This knowledge is typically acquired by completion of an accounting degree from a four-year college or university. If not from an academic environment, the knowledge can also be obtained from certain work experience. In addition to meeting the Positive Educational requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the Specialized requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE IR-01 LEVEL: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower level pay band or GS grade in the normal line of progression. Specialized experience would include one year of substantive supervisory or program management experience at the GS-13 or GS-14 level or equivalent level manager or comparable management or leadership experiences outside of Federal service. To be qualifying for this position your experience should be sufficient to demonstrate: Experience applying management techniques, methods, theories, principles, and labor relations concepts, sufficient to assure optimum utilization of personnel, equipment, and space, and to accomplish program objectives through combined technical and administrative oversight; Experience planning, directing, and evaluating work of subordinate managers, employees, and/or others; Experience applying appropriate operations, policies, applicable laws, regulations, rules, practices, procedures, and techniques sufficient to provide oversight and direction in the planning, development and implementation of the technical aspects of programs directly related and/or specific to the position being filled; Experience applying budget and fiscal methods used in establishing and maintaining an organization. Experience working on major programs segments, organizational structures and/or functional responsibilities specific to the position being filled.
