Qualification Summary

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: THE ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE. An example of the screen out element is: I have performed and lead subordinate packers in accomplishing a full range of Packer tasks including ensuring hazardous shipments comply with international, Federal, state and local directives regarding packing, preserving, marking, labeling, research, documentation, classification, identification and certification prior to release for all modes of shipment. Packing hazardous and non-hazardous materials and classified items on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection. I use packing and preservation equipment, preservatives and specialized processes including heat sealers, shrink wraps, foam-in-place packaging, electro-sensitive discharge materials handling and classified material handling including desiccants, preservative oils and cleaning solvents. I have also performed a majority of the following duties of a Wood Worker with minimal supervision: Plan, construct, and repairs a full range of standardized shipping and storage containers, shipping devices, and similar items for a wide range of aviation and ship parts and support material; utilize a skill in measuring, developing and laying out changes to existing container plans to specifically shaped materials and bracing requirements for large and unbalanced equipment, sensitive electronic equipment, delicate instruments and heavy industrial equipment; fabricate containers and appropriate bracing for shipment of a wide variety of hazardous materials; utilize skill in the safe and efficient operation of a wide range of standard manual and power woodworking, pneumatic, and strapping tools; and determine wood and wood composite materials strength and nail/fastener holding and splitting tendencies utilizing a working knowledge of the type and properties of hard/soft wood and wood composite materials.
