Actor Dilip Kumar Expires at 98

Today’s first post is Actor Dilip Kumar Expires at 98. I got up to the sad news of the death of the veteran actor, this morning. He had prostate cancer. Then, I remembered the only interaction I had with him in my entire life. I had called him up for an interview for a print magazine at the beginning of my career. Learning my name, he asked me if I was from Andhra Pradesh (Telangana was not born then) or Karnataka. I told him that I was a native of Karnataka State. His next sentence was, “Oota aaita?” meaning “Did you have your lunch?” in Kannada. I was pleasantly surprised and asked him, how did he know Kannada. He just laughed! I couldn’t interview him because he had already fallen ill. But, I will cherish the few words I had with him on the phone, for my entire life. RIP Dilip Uncle!
