Military Grades: SRA-MSGT Compatible Military Assignments: 2T2X1 AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Open to current members of the Massachusetts Air National Guard and those eligible to enlist. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position Constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: experience, education or training which demonstrates the knowledge of equipment and practices associated with the type of work to be done. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least 18 months at the Rigger Standard, which covers the selection, installation, and use of cables, ropes, harnesses, chains, etc; used in lifting, moving, and positioning of heavy loads. This standard is used primarily in relation to installing weight handling gear for objects to be moved into position for shipment by crane or other MHE or by chain falls, gin poles, tackle blocks, or a combination of these to move objects through confined areas where cranes or other mobile material handling equipment cannot be used in order that these objects may be secured for transportation. A high level of skill to install a variety of complex rigging and that items are difficult to plan and lay out due to critical fit, tension, and operational requirements. Applicants of this position must be familiar with and capable of rigging a full variety of items that may be dropped although many loads rigged are standard for practice drops. Even the rigging of these standard practice loads requires a comprehensive knowledge of proper rigging techniques and accountability for proper rigging of the load. Rigging duties are properly recognized at the WG-10 level in this position. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of months/years. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
