Movie – Aap Aaye Bahar Aayi (1971)

The song, Saare zamanepe, was featured in the Emkay Productions’ socio-family-drama Aap Aaye Bahar Aayi (1971) produced and directed by Mohan Kumar. The movie starred Rajendra Kumar, Sadhana, Prem Chopra, Rajinder Nath, etc.

Rohit (Rajendra Kumar) and Whiskey (Rajinder Nath) are traveling to Rohit’s estate when their vehicle sputters and stops. Neena (Sadhana) comes along and the men ask her for help, which she declines. After a few days, Neena is in need of similar help and Rohit comes along that way. When Neena requests him to help her, he sings a song.

Rohit has obviously fallen in love with her! He visits the forest officer’s place and encounters Neena, who plays a prank with him when he ends up soaking wet. It turns out that the forest officer is Neena’s father, who gets Rohit out of the wet clothes and helps him get his clothes dried. The forest officer says that some of Rohit’s employees are indulging in illegal activities. Rohit extends all his cooperation to get them booked for their crimes and promises that such things would not happen again.

The next day, Rohit sends Neena a cassette with his message requesting her to meet him at a particular place. Rohit sends it through Neena’s dog and is in the vicinity when she listens to the cassette. Neena declines the date. But, Rohit says that he would still be waiting for her. Neena ends up going to the date and Rohit sings this song at this point.

Video – Saare zamanepe

The cinematographer is G Singh.

The video opens with Rajendra Kumar looking at Sadhana, who is standing at a lower level. Sadhana looks happy. The music has already begun. Running down the incline, he waves to her. She also hurries toward him. They hug and he begins to sing this song.

The scenic beauty of the place is astounding. Sadhana sits on a flowery swing and he pushes it for her from behind her. After passing some time in the garden, they go boating. The song rises to a crescendo and the video ends as they hug.

Mohammad Rafi sings for Rajendra Kumar. Sadhana is also seen in the video.

Cultural Influence

There does not seem to be any influence of any culture on this song. But, this is a romantic song where the hero welcomes the heroine. The song and the artists are good. The video is watchable for the same.
