TheGS-13salary range starts at$97,078.00per year. If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected. To qualify, you must meet theBasic Eligibility Requirements below.1. Bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene; or a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene. Courses in the history or teaching of chemistry are not acceptable;OR 2. Possess a combination of education and experience which includes having at least 12 semester hours of coursework in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours as specified in Choice 1 above, plus appropriate experience or additional education such as a certification from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH).In addition to the basic requirements stated above, applicants must meet specialized experience requirements, in order to be qualified for this position.Specialized experienceis at least one year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 level independently conducting surveys/inspections based upon compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations including on-site federally-owned and leased space, and environmental sampling (quantitative and qualitative) in order to evaluate chemical, physical, biological or mechanical (HVAC systems) stresses; and preparing written reports based upon the analysis of the data acquired and the prediction of probable effects of exposures on the health and well-being of workers. Such experience must also include development of recommendations encompassing engineering, administrative or personal controls with special emphasis on asbestos control, abatement and monitoring.
