You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.GS-05 LEVEL: You must have one (1) year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: experience in the receipt of records, sorting, batching, associating, controlling, staging, collecting, mailing, extracting and distributing incoming/outgoing work: maintaining, updating, and purging suspense/closed files; examining and perfecting documents; operating the equipment, which may consist of an alphanumeric keyboard, video display, printer, disc storage, etc., in such a way as to utilize system capabilities, e.g. text editing, formatting, statistical tabulations, data storage and retrieval, sorting of data, basic mathematical functions, and printing; operational trouble-shooting ability of equipment to diagnose as operator error, improper text input, program error, or equipment failure; experience with receiving, opening, sorting, and distributing both incoming and outgoing mail ensuring all mail contains sufficient information for proper delivery and maintaining logs for mail accountability purposes.Experience should demonstrate an ability to screen documents, forms, and letters addressed or routed to various offices; researches correspondence addressed to specific functional areas; screen material to determine information requested based on knowledge of an organization; identify forms or documents requiring special priority handling and treat them accordingly; receive and process incoming and outgoing registered and certified mail, and express mail shipments; Perform a variety of administrative tasks using an automated system which involves: assigning, maintaining, monitoring, or updating work status and inventory records; acknowledging correspondence; maintain and update records.Experience should demonstrate ability to comprehend and apply the rules, regulations, guidelines and procedures related to the production of materials using electronic systems to operate the equipment, schedule work, and solve problems, as well as, record keeping and maintenance requirements. ORYou may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: A Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of education above high school in any field of study from an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.For Grades 5 through 11:You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.-The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part- time work is considered on a prorated basis.-To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week, on your resume.In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following, if applicable:You must have been at the GS-04 level for 52 weeks (time-in-grade requirement).
