The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:1. Demonstrate substantial experience with data center management. Knowledge and experience with concepts, processes, and tools associated with data center management such as: Facilities security, Data Center design, Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools, Network monitoring tools. Experience with IT systems to include: Servers, VMware, SAN storage and Hyper-convergent Technology.(Example: Thorough knowledge and experience in data center management, procedures and tools.)2. Demonstrate substantial knowledge of enterprise wide IT network infrastructure, involving LAN/WAN design, Cloud and remote access solutions, bandwidth/load analysis, and network architecture. Experience with analyzing the impact of these technologies and their impact on workstations, servers, operating systems and application environments. Knowledge of the theory, principles and techniques pertaining to the application of IT network / infrastructure systems in enterprise and cloud-based environments and the use of these systems to provide enterprise level technical solutions to business problems. Experience following and implementing federal IT security guidelines and standards. (Example: Cisco Routers, Palo Alto Firewalls, Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Equinix, Verizon, and AT&T)3. Demonstratedknowledge with the Office of Management and Budget’s Data Center Optimization Initiative (DCOI). Describe experience working on data center projects where you were part of the planning and/or implementation team to close or optimize a data center to gain an efficiency or cost savings.(Example: Data Center Optimization Initiative (DCOI) quarter report, DCOI Strategic Plan, Data Center Closure or Consolidation Plans.)
4. Demonstrate knowledge and experience dealing effectively with system owners, application owners, and their user community for the purpose of, timely notification of system outages, effective communication of planned outages, and proper notification of unscheduled outages to minimize unscheduled downtime.(Example: Scheduling process, alert systems, notification process, estimating recovery time, and specific interactions with stakeholders.)
5. Demonstrate knowledge and experience with project management and contractor officer representative techniques especially as they apply to managing multiple large or complex technical projects and contracts. The ability to keep multiple major projects on schedule and within budget; the ability to adjust resources and schedule to meet changing requirements, and the ability to apply policies, procedures, regulations, or directives in managing projects.(Example:Any project management training. COR level (with dollar amount or complexity of contracts). Successful projects and their challenges.)
6. Demonstrate the ability to communicate both orally and in writing, and to deal effectively with NRC staff at all levels, including senior managers, users, peers, contractors and with personnel from other government agencies and private industry. This also includes the ability to develop and present written and oral presentations and reports to program offices and senior management.(Example:Both oral and written briefings/presentations on technical projects)
In addition to the basic requirements, to qualify for this position you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level (13) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as one year of specialized experience performing duties related to serving as an Information Technology Specialist. This experience must included: 1) data center management; 2) knowledge of enterprise wide IT network infrastructure; and, 3) project management.
