Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Utilizing automated office software to create documents, spreadsheets, and reports; or 2) Performing administrative support duties, such as travel arrangements and timekeeping. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
Education: Completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).
Combination: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages. For the GS-06 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Preparing information for an operating budget; 2) Consolidating data for reports; OR, 3) Performing administrative support duties for an office such as file maintenance, travel orders and timekeeping, customer service, and preparing correspondence. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration.
Combination: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. For the GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level performing at least 3 out of the following 4 areas: 1) Consolidating and analyzing data to develop a budget for an office/organization; 2) Arranging transportation and/or travel for office personnel; 3) Procuring supplies, equipment, and/or materials for an office/organization; 4) Composing correspondence and/or reports using word processing software. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
