Movie – Dil Toh Pagal Hai (1997)
The song, Chandne kuch kaha, appears in the Yash-Raj Films’ romrama Dil Toh Pagal Hai (1997), directed by Yash Chopra and produced by Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra. The movie starred Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Karishma Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, etc.
The movie begins with Pooja (Madhuri Dixit) and Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan) speaking their minds about the topic of love and life-partner. Pooja believes that God has made someone for her. Rahul disbelieves the whole concept of love and ridicules the idea of the Godsend companion for life. A song is heard in the background, which expresses Pooja’s thoughts.
Post the above song, the next shot itself has another song, performed by Nisha (Karishma Kapoor) with other girls. At the end of this song, Rahul appears and announces a new play, Maya. But when the other troupe members question him about the new play, he says that right then Maya was a concept. When the others insist, Rahul puts his thoughts to words in a song. But, Nisha is not convinced that such a girl could be found on the earth.
On Valentine’s Day, Pooja believes that she would meet her soulmate before the end of the day. On the other hand, Rahul does not believe in anything close to someone being another’s Valentine. He tries to convince Nisha about it. They are at Valentine’s Day party. He also says that the couples dancing together today would split within the next few days and would be seen with another person next year. Unexpectedly, he drops a question – would she live with him for the rest of their lives. But before she replies in the affirmative, he is asked to sing a song. This is the song he sings.

Video – Chandne kuch kaha
The cinematography is by Manmohan Singh. Dance choreography is by Shiamak Davar.
The video opens with a shot of the full moon. Shah Rukh Khan goes to the front of the revelers, with the shouts of ‘Rahul’. He turns toward the glass windowpanes and feels the caress of the moonlight.
On the other hand, Madhuri Dixit also feels the caress of the moon on her. Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit begin to sing and dance. He pulls Karishma Kapoor into the dance floor and begins to perform a few steps of ballroom dance.
Sharukh Khan throws a heart-shaped balloon and Madhuri Dixit receives it miles away. She feels like a man is approaching her on horseback in a garden. She lights some candles. Karishma Kapoor imagines that she is alone with Shah Rukh Khan and is singing part of the song.
She then moves away from the dance floor. The song peters out and the video also ends as Shah Rukh Khan wishes the party-goers a Happy Valentine’s Day.
Udit Narayan and Lata Mangeshkar sing this song for Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit. Karishma Kapoor and some other actors are also seen in the video.
This song is a typically slow though melodious but young generation number, which may be liked by older people as well. The song and the artists are good. The video is watchable for the same.
