Qualification Summary
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements:
1. United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
2. Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
3. For foreign medical graduates not covered in (1) or (2) above, facility officials must verify with the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) that the applicant has met requirements for certification, (copy of ECFMG certificate must be provided).
4. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
5. Completion of residency and fellowship training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
6. Board certification or board eligibility (BC/BE) in Dermatology or have equivalent board certification.
7. Proficiency in spoken and written English.
8. Proficiency in use of MS Word, MS Excel, storing and retrieving electronic documents and files, activating printers, and transmitting and receiving e-mail. All staff physicians are appropriately credentialed and have received certification in basic cardiac life support. They also are involved in continuous quality improvement through the peer review process, attend /complete VA mandatory training requirements and complete continuing education to meet his or her professional growth and specialty standards. Preferred Experience: Board certification or board eligibility (BC/BE) in Dermatology, and three to five years of relevant clinical experience.
