Qualification Summary
In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the qualification requirements – please be sure to include this information in your resume. No assumptions will be made about your experience. At the GS-07 Level: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-05) in Federal service. Examples of specialized experience may include: demonstrated ability to plan & coordinate the use of land, water & related resources for recreation & conservation purposes; carry out designated portions of an inventory of existing recreation resources; analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions; plan and organize work; and communicate effectively orally and in writing; OR completed a bachelor’s degree in outdoor recreation planning or a related field AND meet the provisions of with Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.) See OPM Quals Standard-General Policies E(4)(f); OR completed 1 full year of graduate education or a master`s or higher degree in outdoor recreation planning or a related field that included 1 or more courses in outdoor recreation; OR an equivalent combination of the specialized experience and graduate education described above. Superior Academic Achievement (See OPM’s General Policies, Application of Qualification Standards Section 4.f.) S.A.A. must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level. Physical Demands: The work is primarily sedentary. However, there may be some physical exertion such as walking; hiking; standing; bending; carrying of items such as books and backpacks; driving an automobile or off-highway vehicle; operating a small boat, etc. Work Environment: Work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate controlled office. Occasional travel may be required. The position may be required to visit field sites where risks may include exposure to inclement weather and potential injury from falls, strains, bites, stings, etc. The incumbent will adhere to all safety rules and regulations as prescribed in manuals/supplements or designated by the Safety Officer.
