Movie – Black Cat (1959)
The song, Main tumhise poochti hoon, was featured in the Sippy Films’ crime thriller Black Cat (1959), directed by Nisar Ahmad Ansari and produced by G P Sippy. The movie started Balraj Sahni, Minoo Mumtaz, Nisar Ahmad Ansari, Johnny Walker, etc.
Rajan (Balraj Sahni) is a police officer-in-charge of the case of the notorious criminal Black Cat. The Black Cat is audacious enough to regularly leave his calling card at the scene of the crime and is very confident that he will not be caught. Rajan is in love with Nita (Minoo Mumtaz), daughter of a close family friend Professor Gupta (Nisar Ahmad Ansari).
One day, the professor visits Rajan’s home and Rajan discerns someone eavesdropping. Rajan runs out of his home to follow the person. It turns out that the person is none other than Nita and she pulls out his diary that he keeps to write his poems. She sings this song, with Rajan at this point in the movie.

The lyrics of the song, Main tumhise poochti hoon, were penned by Jan Nisar Akhtar and the music was set by N Dutta.

The video opens with a lyrical conversation between Minoo Mumtaz and Balraj Sahni. She begins the song at this point and approaches him to lie her head on his lap. They run around the trees in the studio location. She sways around the place, gracefully. She returns his diary to him. The song peters out and the video also ends as they hold hands, sitting on a walker’s rough inclined path in the place.
