All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE. Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the GS-08, Program Support Assistant (OA), and that is typically related to the work of the position to be filled. This experience must be fully supported and articulated in your resume to receive consideration. Specialized experience includes: Researching and gathering legal information and documentation from files and records, policies, regulations and statutes, witness interviews, databases, and/or other sources; Utilizing an automated database management system to input, retrieve, monitor and maintain electronic case files; and Performing a variety of technical, administrative, records management and clerical functions for local field office, utilizing numerous and varying guides to ensure proper execution of daily tasks. TYPING PROFICIENCY. This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Your response to the typing skill question on the Assessment Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination. TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENT. Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year of experience at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service is required to qualify for the GS-08 grade level. NOTE. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
