To qualify, applicants must possess Information Technology (IT) related experience demonstrating each of the following four competencies: (1) Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attention to detail. (2) Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. (3) Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information; make clear and convincing oral presentations; list to others, attend to nonverbal cues, and respond appropriately. (4) Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determine accuracy and relevance of information; use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations. IT related experience is demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (IT certification.) AND Applicants must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-14). Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled including: Directing a diverse group of Information Technology (IT) management, technical, and support personnel to support an organization’s IT mission; Managing budget/resources for a large information technology program to ensure mission accomplishment can be met; Leading the development, delivery or integration of highly complex IT products or services; Creating product vision, strategy or road maps for an organization’s IT program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education is allowed.
