Qualification Summary
FOR THE GS-13 – Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Manages the ships life cycle plan by planning, directing and coordinating the maintenance and repair activities requiring industrial assistance for assigned ships; Takes input from various sources such as Voyage Repair Requests, Casualty Reports, regulatory body requirements, inspections, Life Cycle Plans (LCP), condition reports, alteration requests, preventive and condition monitoring systems and other areas and integrates them into short and mid-term plans and schedules to ensure ship material readiness; manages and sustains the Ship Specific LCP for availabilities, Advanced Planning Letter, LCP maintenance item cost estimates and specifications, completion documentation, and scheduling; determines, plans, and schedules all technical work requirements for all availabilities for assigned ships; prioritizes shipboard work requirements against life cycle plans, budgetary requirements and limitations; develops and reviews plans, work items and cost estimates for maintenance and repair and ship alteration work for assigned ships; during maintenance availabilities, serves as point of contact and for technical issues related to shipboard readiness and maintenance and repair. FOR THE GS-12 – Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Provides engineering expertise for life cycle management issues for a fleet of ships, efficient operation, maintenance, repair and overhaul, specifications for ship maintenance and repair and for ship maintenance and repair budgets; serves as consultant and technical expert on all aspects of assigned ships’ readiness and budgetary status, required and planned maintenance and planned operational schedule; serves as principal engineer for assigned ocean-going vessels including (steam, diesel and/or gas turbine) and responsible for life cycle management (maintenance, repair, overhaul, alteration and modification for assigned ships); manages the ships life cycle plan by planning, directing and coordinating the maintenance and repair activities requiring industrial assistance for assigned ships and determines, plans, and schedules all technical work requirements for all availabilities for assigned ships.
