Qualification Summary
At the GS-05 level, you must meet one of the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and level of responsibility to the GS-4 grade level is required. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is in or directly related to the line of work of this position and has equipped the applicant with the knowledge and competencies to successfully perform the duties of this position. More specifically, specialized experience includes, but is not limited to: greeting office visitors and answering phones; receiving correspondence and routing correspondence to the appropriate staff member; using office automation software to create a variety of documents; making travel arrangements; and keeping time and attendance for an office; OR
B. Applicants may substitute a BA/BS degree in any field or four years of education above the high school level; OR
C. Applicants may have an equivalent combination of specialized experience and education above the high school level. Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered. TIME-IN-GRADE: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). Advancement to positions up to GS-5: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to the GS-5 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non temporary competitive appointment. This position requires 40 words per minute typing ability. A written test is not required. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
