Yunhi kat jayega safar – Sanu/Alka – Nadeem-Shravan – Aamir/Juhi | Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke (1993)

Movie – Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke (1993)

The song, Yunhi kat jayega safar, appears in the T V Films and Tahir Husain Enterprises’ romedy Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke (1993). Produced by Tahir Husain, the movie was directed by Mahesh Bhatt and the star-cast included Aamir Khan, Juhi Chawla, Tiku Talsania, Kunal Khemu, Sharokh Bharucha, Baby Ashrafa etc.

Rahul Malhotra (Aamir Khan) receives the custodianship of a heavily-in-debt garments’ factory and his sister’s 3 mischievous children. Combined, these are things he had not bargained for when he is summoned by his deceased sister’s lawyer Homi Wadia (Tiku Talsaniya). The work at the factory is not going at the required pace. They need to complete 1 lakh shirts within a specific time period. When he reaches the factory, he gets to know that the workers are young girls and the girls begin to flirt with him.

Due to the fact that he has to convince the client Bijlani (Dalip Tahil) for some more time to complete the workload; Rahul comes home late, that night. The kids behave arrogantly and are punished by Rahul by locking them inside their room. They escape via an open window.

On the other hand, Vaijayanti (Juhi Chawla) escapes from her home when her father locks her up in her room for refusing to marry his choice. Vaijayanti and the kids meet at the carnival and get caught while cheating at a game stall. The owner of the stall finds a police constable and begins to chase Vaijayanti and the kids.

The mischievous group reach a darkened room and look around. When the lights come on, they realize that they have reached the small auditorium where a dance competition is being organized. Having no other choice, the kids and Vaijayanti perform this song.

After Vaijayanti and the kids come out of the carnival grounds, the kids understand that Vaijayanti has nowhere to go and tell her to come with them to their home. Vaijayanti also complies with the request. The kids keep her hidden in the house. But, how long can a full-grown adult be hidden in a small house? Post a long drawn out comic scene, Vaijayanti’s presence is discovered by Rahul, who tells her to leave. Rahul relents when she gives a cock-and-bull-story about her being an orphan and allows her to be the housemaid at their home.

The next day, Rahul brings dresses for the kids and Vaijayanti. Vaijayanti has been wearing Rahul’s dresses all the while. The kids rudely reject the presents. Rahul is hurt and before Vaijayanti can admire his selection for her, he dejectedly goes into his room. Vaijayanti practically teaches the kids a lesson on behaving respectfully with their uncle. The kids slip a ‘sorry’ card below the door of Rahul’s room. Rahul is happy and soon, they go for a picnic. They sing this song during the trip.

Song – Yunhi kat jayega safar

The man sings, “The journey will not be difficult when we are together. Our destination will appear to us when we walk together.”

Video – Yunhi kat jayega safar

The cinematography is by Pravin Bhatt. Dance choreography is by Nimesh Udayan-Raju Khan-Madhav Kishan.

The video opens with the 5 of them running toward and getting into Aamir Khan’s car, with the picnic basket. But, the car does not start. Juhi Chawla and others have to push it to some distance. Then, it starts.

When the car starts, they get into the car and they are on the road toward the picnic spot. The music has already begun. The car stops again. This time, Aamir Khan begins to sing this song. The kids and Juhi Chawla push the car.

Aamir Khan almost drives off in the car and Juhi Chawla also begins to sing the song, walking toward the car. Then, she acts as if she has sprained her ankle. Aamir Khan stops the car and comes, with concern, back to where the kids and Juhi Chawla are.

Juhi Chawla and the kids begin to beat him and all of them go back to the car. In the next shot, they are seen walking in the garden. Juhi Chawla drops their picnic things and dances with the others. Aamir Khan scolds her and tells her to stay with their belongings.

They watch different animals in the zoo and ride an elephant. Next, they visit a picnic spot on a hill-top. They take a few pictures from an automatic camera. The song peters out and the video ends as they are on the way back home.

Yunhi kat jayega safar was sung by Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik for Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla and the 3 kids – Kunal Khemu, Sharokh Bharucha and Baby Ashrafa also appear in the video.

Cultural Influence

There is no influence of any culture on this song. This is another of my favorite songs written by Sameerji. The song gives a very perky feeling to you. The song and the artists are good. The video is watchable for the same.
