Qualification Summary
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. If qualifying based on education, a copy of your unofficial transcripts must be provided with your application. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying: Applicants must have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following: (1) investigating and evaluating historic structures for scope of repairs; (2) assisting in the development of preservation treatment recommendations; and (3) performing inventory and condition assessment surveys OR; Have successfully completed one full year of graduate level education with a major study in a related field such as illustrative design, commercial art, fine arts, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design or other fields related to the position. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. One year of graduate education is considered to be 18 semester hours. We will not solicit you for this information, and you will not receive consideration if it is not submitted OR; Have an equivalent combination of specialized experience (of the type described above) and education. For example, 6 months of specialized experience such as described in “A” above (50% of the required experience) and 9 semester hours of appropriate graduate study (50% of the education requirement as in “B” above) would qualify an applicant for this grade level. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. PLEASE NOTE: If you are using education to qualify, you MUST submit a copy of your transcripts. We will not solicit you for this information, and you will not receive consideration if it is not submitted OR; Meet the Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) requirements – A Bachelor’s degree in one of the above (#1B.) fields of study with SAA. SAA may be met in one of the following ways: (1) grade point average of “B” (a GPA of 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0) for all completed undergraduate courses, or those completed in the last two years of undergraduate study. (2) grade point average of “B+” (a GPA of 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0) for all courses in the applicant’s major field of study, or those courses in the applicant’s major completed in the last two years of undergraduate study. (3) Rank in the upper one-third of the applicant’s class in the college, university, or major subdivision. (4) Membership in a national honor society (other than freshman honor societies) recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-05 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted). Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as “varies”. Physical Demands: Physical effort is heavy to moderate. Requires occasional lifting or handling of objects or materials in excess of 100 pounds with assistance. Frequently required to stand while working, climb ladders or scaffoldings, and bend, stoop, climb, and work in awkward positions. Some sedentary work is also required. Working Conditions: Work performed outdoors will occur under varying and extreme climatic conditions. Work is performed in, on, and about deteriorating prehistoric structures which may be hazardous. Incumbent may be subject to soiling from dirt and chemical materials, insect bites, cuts and bruises. Work in an office environment will also be required.
