Qualification Summary
Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Munitions Destroyer~ without more than normal supervision. – Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Must possess the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks to include removing designated material, such as projectiles, cartridges, propelling charges, mines, bombs, grenades, incendiary and chemical ammunition, pyrotechnics, smokeless powder, TNT, HBDX, explosive “D” and other high explosives from magazines or production areas; placing material in trenches, excavations, pits, or behind (revetments) as appropriate for the type and quantity of material to be disposed of; ensure demolition set-up is such that material will be destroyed and not scattered sets and fires charges with blasting caps, detonating fuses, time fuses, blasting machines, or similar equipment. This position is a TERM position. It is time-limited and may be extended up to a maximum of five years. This position may be converted to permanent career or career-conditional appointment without further competition as long as all requirements are met. To be eligible for conversion, employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service AND employee must have a current performance rating under such term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent. PHYSICAL EFFORT: This position requires arduous work including occasional heavy lifting, kneeling, bending, frequent walking and extensive standing at a moderate work pace. All lifts over 50 pounds will be assisted with a two person lift or using a mechanical handling equipment lifting device. The two person lift limit is 100 pounds and will only be used for single event, non-routine lifts. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed around moving equipment and there is exposure to dangerous and deteriorated explosives resulting in possibility of toxic smoke inhalation, cuts, bruises, sprains or burns.The majority of work is performed outside with exposure to all types of weather, dirt, noise, dust, fumes, etc. Worker wears protective clothing such as specially treated coveralls, gloves, and respirator protectors, as necessary.
