Qualification Summary
Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens and Non-Citizens with Allegiance to the United States This is a full-time term appointment in the excepted service not to exceed 13 months. Term appointments may be extended beyond the initial term. As a term employee you will be eligible for medical insurance, life insurance, retirement, dental and vision. You will be eligible to earn annual leave and sick leave. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must (a) hold a bachelor’s degree or higher that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, OR (b) possess a combination of education and experience — courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Applicants will be evaluated on the following: 1) Academic accomplishment (a Ph.D. in Political Science with a strong background in Security Studies is preferred); 2) Skill in the field of political science with emphasis on strategy and international security; 3) Ability to teach grand strategy-related courses and manage an academic minor program; 4) Ability to conduct and sustain research and analysis using a variety of methodological approaches and develop policy solutions; 5) Ability to support the personal growth and professional development of cadets and faculty in and out of the classroom.
