An Evening in Paris (1967) – A Complete Analysis

  1. Deepa (Sharmila Tagore) is a rich girl and has had 3 failures in love. So, she goes to Paris looking for real love. She tells everyone a sob story of her being a maid and Indian men preferring rich girls. But, this makes her vulnerable to wayward men and she can be raped, killed and her body disposed off without leaving a trace. She should have remembered that she is a lone girl in a strange country. Who knows what kind of men have been told about her predicament by her? It is only her luck that she meets Shyam/Sam (Shammi Kapoor), instead of a criminal.
  2. Deepa is gallivanting all over Europe alone. It is a different matter that Sam is following her. But, she intends to be alone and tries to avoid him. This is again an activity that might attract the wrong attention.
  3. Music by Shankar-Jaikishan and lyrics by Hasrat Jaipuri and Shailendra are good.
  4. I love all the songs.
  5. We had an audio cassette of this movie’s songs. It did not contain the songs, Hoga tumse kal bhi samna… and Zubi zubi zalebu…

An Evening in Paris (1967) songs

Aji aisa mauka phir kahan milega…

Deewane ka naam toh pooch…

Hoga tumse kal bhi samna…

Akele akele kahan ja rahe ho…

Leja leja leja mera dil…

Aasmaanse aaya farishta…

Mera dil hai tera…

Raatke humsafar…

Zubi zubi zalebu…
