Qualification Summary
GS-11: In addition to meeting the basic education requirement, you must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level that is similar in difficulty and complexity. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. You must meet all of the following examples of specialized experience: Providing engineering, construction, and maintenance expertise for the layout, location, and design of roads, buildings, wells, pipelines, dams, and culverts; Preparing cost and time estimates for civil construction and maintenance projects; Determining whether civil construction progress complies with contracts through inspection; Operating automated drafting, mapping, global positioning system (GPS), geographic information system (GIS) and other software to complete professional civil drawings. OR Education: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree related to occupation. OR A combination of specialized experience and/ or graduate education equaling 100% of the total specialized experience needed for this position. GS-09: In addition to meeting the basic education requirement, you must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level that is similar in difficulty and complexity. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. You must meet two of the following examples of specialized experience: Providing engineering, construction, and maintenance expertise for the layout, location, and design of roads, buildings, wells, pipelines, dams, and culverts; Preparing cost and time estimates for civil construction and maintenance projects; Determining whether civil construction progress complies with contracts through inspection; Operating automated drafting, mapping, GPS, GIS, and other software to complete professional civil drawings. OR Education: 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master’s degree or master’s or equivalent graduate degree. OR A combination of specialized experience and/ or graduate education equaling 100% of the total specialized experience needed for this position. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Physical Demands: Performs a majority of work in an office setting, must spend a significant amount of time reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating work of the District in the field. Work Environment: Office work is performed in a typical office setting with no unusual risks. In the field, seasonal weather conditions vary in the extreme and can create hazardous driving conditions. Field hazards include snakes, poisonous plants and insects. Travel to remote sites during the field season is common with overnight stays. Training and travel are also routine requirements of the job in and out of State.
