Qualification Summary
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-09/15/2020-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either “full-time” (or “40 hours a week”) or “part-time” with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. Selective Factors: This position performs emergency medical response. Candidates who do not meet these requirements by close of this announcement will receive no further consideration for this position. Applicants must meet ALL of the following to qualify: current Paramedic certification/licensure through National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) and current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification – AND –
To be qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess one of the following: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: 1) obtaining patient vital signs and performing venipuncture and initiating intravenous (IV) therapy; 2) using various types of medical emergency equipment (e.g., EKG, telemetry/defibrillator, suction, etc.); 3) determining the basic causes and medical implications of closed and open soft tissue wounds; and 4) stabilizing patients per established protocols. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least one (1) full year (18 semester hours) of graduate level education from an accredited college or university with major study in natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resource, which provided me with the knowledge and skills necessary for successful job performance to do the work of this position. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successfully completed a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major study in natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resource, which provided me with the knowledge and skills necessary for successful job performance to do the work of this position, and I meet one of the following requirements for Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) at the undergraduate level: 1) Class standing — Graduated in the upper third of the class based on completed courses in the college, university, or major subdivision; 2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.)2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0 scale as recorded on official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3) Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society. (Note: A copy of your transcript is required as documented proof of your GPA, class standing, or election to honor society membership.) Successful completion of a COMBINATION of education and experience as described above. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts. – AND/OR-
To be qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must possess one of the following: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: 1) obtaining patient vital signs and performing venipuncture and initiating intravenous (IV) therapy; 2) using various types of medical emergency equipment (e.g., EKG, telemetry/defibrillator, suction, etc.); 3) determining the basic causes and medical implications of closed and open soft tissue wounds; 4) stabilizing patients per established protocols, 5) planning and leading EMS training, 6) precepting new EMS providers, 7) conducting EMS chart audits and participating in the EMS quality assurance program, 8) reviewing latest industry standard EMS care and proposing updates to EMS protocols. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 2 full years of graduate level education or Master’s or equivalent graduate degree with major study in natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resource. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. Only graduate education beyond the first year is creditable. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts. TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements (must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent in the Federal service). Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
