Qualification Summary
TEMPORARY INFORMATION: This position is a temporary position and may be extended in one year increments up to a maximum of five years. No provision to be made permanent. Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience for GS-09: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled including: Assisting in developing on line training courses for a large organization.; Coordinating training workshops/conferences to support the organization’s training program; Assisting in the selection of training methods and media (to include training aids, job aids, and devices) for the organization’s training program. Gathering statistical data to prepare reports on training program effectiveness; Assisting senior instructors in conducting formal training classes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-09: Successful completion of a Master’s or equivalent graduate degree or two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Instructional Design or Curriculum Development. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Combination of Experience and Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-09: If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Specialized Experience for GS-11: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: Designing and developing on-line training courses for a large organization; Evaluating training processes or programs for effectiveness and/or regulatory compliance; Integrating the Systems Approach to Training, or a similar process, in training program development; Conducting formal training classes for a large organization; Making recommendations to management to resolve problems with the training program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-11: Successful completion of at least Ph.D. or equivalent graduate degree or three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Instructional Design or Curriculum Development. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Combination of Experience and Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-11: If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education in excess of 36 (total semester hours minus 36), by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
