Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Ammunition Inspector without more than normal supervision. ability to perform common tasks including knowledge of the characteristics and hazards in handling many different types of ammunition (both standard and nonstandard), the functioning of fuses, hand grenades, primers, cartridges, demolition devices, warheads, guided missiles, rocket motors and other related materials. I can inspect conventional, improved conventional and non-standard ammunition. I can inspect conventional, improved conventional and non-standard ammunition. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation)Dexterity and SafetyKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Knowledge of Materials PHYSICAL EFFORT Stand, bend, and stretch for extended periods. May push or pull pallet jack with load up to 4000 lbs. Frequently lifts items weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally in excess of 40 pounds. Work requires manual dexterity and manual, visual and muscular coordination. Must not be unduly allergic to explosive compositions. Annual physical exam is required. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed inside and outside. Most buildings have cement floors and electric lights. Incumbent may be exposed to weather extremes and must wear protective equipment and clothing (safety shoes, goggles, safety glasses, ear plugs, heavy gloves, mask). Occasional exposure to paint fumes, dust, grease and a variety of potentially hazardous machines, equipment, and materiel. Exposure to explosive/incendiary/propulsion hazards, which cannot be practically eliminated, is compensated by payment of environmental differentials
