Qualification Summary
Internship Program
Be at least 18 years of age or older for an arduous or hazardous duty position. Be a student who has been accepted for enrollment or is currently enrolled at least half-time in a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) seeking program in an accredited technical or vocational school, 2-year or 4-year college or university, graduate or professional school. You must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 or higher. For GS-03 applicant must have completed 1 academic years of post-high school study. For GS-04 applicant must have completed 2 academic years of post-high school study -OR- have earned an associate degree. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level. Physical Demands: Work requires some physical exertion such as bending and walking in terrain that is rough, rocky, mountainous and densely vegetated. Required to lift and carry heavy (at lease 50lbs.) equipment necessary to efficiently perform the work of the position, and to provide for personal comfort and safety. This can include tools, personal protective equipment, food and water for extended periods of work away from vehicles. Work Environment: Office work is performed in a setting that is adequately lighted, ventilated, cooled, and heated. When doing fieldwork employee is subject to cuts and bruises, extreme and adverse weather conditions, and injuries and discomforts from pests or animals. Employee is required to adhere to all safety rules.
