Qualification Summary
This position will be filled at the GS-09/11 level. If selected at the GS-09 level, non-competitive promotion potential to full performance GS-11 is authorized. Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education/experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Specialized Experience for GS-09: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as utilizing planning software to create a bill of materials; evaluating industrial plant to provide recommendations in determining capacity for production of ordnance items and their component parts and subassemblies; planning production schedules to produce quality end products; providing guidance to employees to ensure completion of ordnance production items. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education Substitution for GS-09: Master’s or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: business administration, industrial management, engineering, applied science, or industrial technology. OR Combination of Education and Experience for GS-09: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Specialized experience for GS-11: Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as controlling the production cycle in the manufacturing/overhaul of complex ordnance items and their component parts and subassemblies; conducting manufacturing studies to identify problems and possible solutions to the manufacturing/overhaul of ordnance items and their component parts and subassemblies; develop production plans involving complex methods of machining, casting, forging, welding, heat-treating, surface treatments, quality control, and layout; recommend engineering changes for modification of manufacturing/overhauling of ordnance items; and coordinates the workload of lower graded personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-09) or equivalent. OR Education Substitution for Specialized Experience: A PhD or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: business administration, industrial management, engineering, applied science, or industrial technology. OR Combining Education and Experience at GS-11 level: Compute the percentage of the requirements for both education and experience, and the total needs to be at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education in excess of 36 (total semester hours minus 36) by 18.
