Mr. India (1987) – A Complete Analysis
At first glance, the movie seems to be perfect, but…
- The plot is not new. The first part has been taken with minor changes from Brahmachari (1968) and Dream Girl (1977). The second part has been technologically developed, to some extent, from Mr. X in Bombay (1964).
- Sridevi’s presence is felt in the entire movie though she appears in the first part and during the climax only. The only satisfaction that we can have is that the hero Anil Kapoor is also invisible in sections other than the above scenes. But, Sri Didi’s performance made history for Bollywood.
- The music by Lakshmi-Pyare is fantastic and the performances of Sridevi, Anil Kapoor and the children are a lot to write home about.
- Saroj Khan’s choreography is so situational. We can understand how much hard work might have gone into it. Each beat has been converted into a step. Fantastic!
